Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501) and Google Cloud today announced a multi-year cooperation to boost corporate creativity and productivity through generative AI. Hitachi will create a new business unit dedicated to helping businesses solve industry difficulties using Gemini models, Vertex AI, and other cloud technologies. The company will also employ Google Cloud’s AI to improve its products and services. Hitachi will use the relationship to drive the expansion of Lumada, its leading digital company, as well as to improve operational efficiency across the Hitachi Group.

Led by GlobalLogic, a digital engineering pioneer and Hitachi Group subsidiary, the firms will create the Hitachi Google Cloud Business Unit and the Google Cloud Center of Excellence (CoE) to rapidly expand Google Cloud technologies to new and existing corporate clients. In addition, Hitachi will work with Google Cloud to include GenAI training in Hitachi’s GenAI Professional training program. The program will expand the knowledge and managed services offered by these business units, ensuring that large-scale enterprises have access to the resources required to transform how they operate with AI fundamentally.

The cooperation will have additional priority areas such as:

New GenAI solutions for modernizing software and improving customer service: Hitachi will employ Gemini models to develop solutions that assist organizations in effectively modernizing outdated software systems, as well as Google Cloud Contact Center AI to fuel more effective and accurate customer care interactions. For example, using Google Cloud Agent Assist, customer service workers may receive real-time knowledge aid and resolution recommendations, allowing them to be more productive and give better service.

The new solutions will be compatible with GlobalLogic’s Platform of Platforms architecture, which is intended to meet the requirements of intelligent organizations.

Providing safe, secure GenAI solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments: Hitachi’s new solutions will enable clients to run on-premises and in the cloud, allowing businesses to modernize operations while preserving their current IT systems. The solutions will also be compatible with Virtual Storage Platform One, allowing customers to create GenAI apps using data stored on Hitachi Vantara’s hybrid cloud platform.

Joint go-to-market initiatives: Hitachi and Google Cloud will better align their sales, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure that customers from various industries have access to the resources they require to deploy and manage GenAI projects optimally through the Hitachi Google Cloud Business Unit and Google Cloud CoE. This will showcase Hitachi’s GenAI Professionals, who have been educated in Google Cloud technologies.

Strengthen GenAI talent development: Hitachi’s GenAI Professionals play an essential role in assisting clients with their AI transformations, and the company will teach over 50,000 GenAI Professionals through its worldwide training program. Hitachi’s curriculum will feature training on Google Cloud’s GenAI products and AI technologies.

GlobalLogic and Google Cloud have worked together for more than 15 years to provide organizations with solutions that fulfill their business goals with efficiency and scale.

“Through this collaboration, Hitachi will use Google Cloud’s AI capabilities to increase staff productivity and drive innovation. Hitachi will be able to better serve the needs of its customers in diverse industries and complex domains such as energy, mobility, manufacturing, and digital services by augmenting the capabilities of our developers and customer success units with Google Cloud GenAI solutions such as Vertex AI and Gemini models,” said Toshiaki Tokunaga, Executive Vice President, and Chief Executive Officer at Hitachi.

Nitesh Banga, CEO of Hitachi’s Digital Engineering Business Unit and President and CEO of GlobalLogic, said, “Through this global alliance, Hitachi is strategically aligning its go-to-market approach with Google Cloud to drive tangible results.” We are creating clear paths for collaboration, assuring increased efficiency and speed in delivering solutions to our collective clientele.
