Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang made several AI-related announcements during his two-hour keynote at Computex, a computer and tech trade fair held annually in Taipei, Taiwan.
“Generative AI is reshaping industries and opening new opportunities for innovation and growth,” said Huang as he kicked off his keynote to an audience of 6,500 ahead of the four-day trade show taking place this week.
“Today, we’re at the cusp of a major shift in computing. The intersection of AI and accelerated computing is set to redefine the future,” he added.
While Nvidia only very recently introduced its Blackwell platform, which Huang called the engine to power generative AI, he now announced that the Rubin platform will succeed the upcoming Blackwell platform, featuring new GPUs, a new Arm-based CPU – Vera – and advanced networking with NVLink 6, CX9 SuperNIC and the X1600 converged InfiniBand/Ethernet switch.
He said that Nvidia’s roadmap for new semiconductors will be released annually, highlighting an accelerated roadmap for new GPU products each year.
“Our company has a one-year rhythm. Our basic philosophy is very simple: build the entire data centre scale, disaggregate and sell to you parts on a one-year rhythm, and push everything to technology limits,” Huang explained.
NIM microservices are now available for developers to download.Nvidia
In March 2024, Nvidia announced its enterprise-grade generative AI microservices that businesses can use to build their own generative AI applications.
Huang announced that these NIM microservices are now available for developers to download.
He added that nearly 200 technology partners – including Cadence, Cloudera, Cohesity, DataStax, NetApp, Scale AI and Synopsys – are integrating NIM into their platforms to speed generative AI deployments for domain-specific applications, such as copilots, code assistants, digital human avatars and more.
The RTX AI Toolkit will enable developers to customise and deploy AI models.
“The future of computing is accelerated,” said Huang.“With our innovations in AI and accelerated computing, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and driving the next wave of technological advancement.”
Alongside Nvidia, other tech giants and semiconductor companies – including AMD, Intel and Qualcomm – will also be giving keynotes and making announcements at this week’s Computex event. No doubt they will also be dominated by AI.
